So topic sentence, evidence (citation), elaboration, evidence (citation), elaboration.

It’s difficult to teach good writing when the state wants us to follow a formula. I’m so sick of reading “the text states.”

Thank you for this video it is helpful. I am a science university student but taking a humanities science) based course about the environmental crisis and literary analysis is not something I’ve done since high school (a long time ago as a mature student). I read Daniel Quinn’s Ishmael but now have to analyze it in the context of some of the papers we read through the semester e.g. in context of the deep ecology movement or the idea of socially constructed denial. My issue is that I have too many ideas and I don’t know if I should be talking more about the mechanisms in the book or the ideas in the papers. Not much instruction was given. Any ideas?
