Interesting channel! My dad worked at DEC in Reading before joining Sun Microsystems as their 7th UK employee.... He restored an S8 around 1980... RXO545 was its registration. I joined DEC in 85, repairing DF32 disk drives for the PDP8... my test system for them was a really old PDP8 with a teleprinter.. I had to manually key in the test code through the front panel toggle switches!!! Happy days!

I find it fascinating how many PDP-8's and PDP-11's are still kicking around.

What a good job. Wonderful and great to watch. I love the green PDP-8.

Wow that is impressive! The poor BC-348 has seen some serious ham mods!

That AR88 is a generation older! The PDP-8 does as good a job of decoding Morse as do some modern programs running on computers with 2, 000, 000 times as much memory. Thank-you for the demonstration.

Love it, thanks for sharing! I think I speak for all of us when I say we'd love to see more of your PDP integration hacks like this!

That's awesome! Can you share your Morse decoding program? Also, my house would look like this if only my wife would allow it...

Hi I'm restoring a PDP-8/A and it's coming along well, it passed the CPU diagonstics for the first time last week.
I'm just getting into the HAM hobby and and I was wondering if you would share some details about the software and hardware needed for your LAB-8/E to process CW/Morse. I'm wondering if me and my 8/A could reproduce your results.

Do you have the source code for the Morse decoding available? I love what you did with the VC8E as well! And I really love your setup combining all sorts of techniques to decode Morse.
