ASW 28 from ST Models

Mods and flight of the ASW 28 from ST Models.

A light 2m 4 channel (throttle, ailerons, elevator, rudder) foam glider for light winds. Great value for money at AU$99 on sale (US$80), but two mods are essential: the elevator needs a servo in the tail and the plane needs 3S, not 2S.

With those mods you got an excellent thermal glider or, as the video illustrates, a glider that just glides and glides and glides on a windless morning with no thermals at all.

The CG is crucial and the elevator is very sensitive thanks to the long slim wings and the very short tail. The rudder is moderately sensitive while the ailerons are not at all; they are tiny.

Fly too slow and you will stall spectacularly to one side or another, it does not stall nicely. Much less likely on 3S.

The T-tail and the winglets makes for a very nice looking plane, only let down by the spinner. The rubber band over the canopy is not standard, that's just me being paranoid. Only the canopy holds the lipo in place.
