The New SureFire Titan A Review

Built to SureFire’s exacting standards—and created for everyone—the groundbreaking Titan is the world’s first professional-grade keychain flashlight. This ultra-compact, dual-output feat of engineering boasts a proprietary faceted reflector that shapes the light from its high-performance LED into a broad, smooth MaxVision Beam™ at both 125 and 15 lumens—astounding levels for a finger-sized light. The beam is perfectly balanced and better preserves your dark-adapted vision since it doesn’t have an intense hot spot. And its wide beam pattern was designed to fit your field of view. Because of all these factors, it better maintains your overall situational awareness, crucial for safely navigating in the dark.

The small but potent Titan was designed to always be with you and, to that end, comes with a stainless steel split ring that securely attaches to your keys—ensuring it’ll never be out of reach. To activate Titan, simply rotate its head counterclockwise (with head pointing away from you) for low output. Return to off by rotating clockwise, then rotate counterclockwise again, within one second, to unleash all 125 room-filling lumens from Titan’s high-performance LED. Powered by its included AAA NiMH rechargeable battery (charger not included), Titan can generate useful light output for up to 8.5 hours on a single charge, thanks to its sophisticated microprocessor that continuously manages the flow of power. This versatile keychain light can also run off of a readily available AAA alkaline battery for up to 13 hours. AAA lithium batteries offer increased runtimes on low-output setting—up to 17 hours.

Titan’s durable yet elegant body is precision machined from strong, lightweight aerospace aluminum and further protected by a hard-anodized finish that meets high military specifications. And its head is topped off by a coated, virtually indestructible polycarbonate window that also optimizes light output. The rugged, one-of-a-kind Titan was built to take on the elements and the rigors of modern-day life. It may just be the last keychain light you’ll ever own.

Didn't you play with the round and square blocks when you were a kid?

I have one of these on the way today. Hope they fixed the battery issue and my batteries fit.

It's replacing a Fenix E05 which was destroyed in my clothes dryer.

That isn't a lithium ion battery - lithium ions are not 1.5 or 1.7 volts. Next the magazines will be "clips", weapons will be "guns", and ammunition will be "bullets". It might not matter today, but the instant you run into a stressful situation you must know what you are referring too precisely, because data will be lost in translation, you hace to be able to articulate it quickly and accurately. After you pass the information, all you can do is hope the guy on the other end knows as much as you do. For example, a note is brought down by a runner, in a one way information exchange: He has a message that reads: search and rescue needs (this quantity) lithium ion AAA's at this grid. The person who receives this message will be confused, it will take him time to try to realize your mistake - and this time may kill you or someone depending on you. A lot of the time information flows one way, supplies flow another - you may or may not get a chance to explain to the guy packing the supplies what you really need - Maybe he will send up alkaline AAA's and CR123A's, assuming he is smart enough to realize your mistake. But even that realization takes time, and there is a chance he sends the wrong equipment entirely - then you are negatively impacted because you planned on having a resupply, and that plan will collapse because the resupply didnt occur. Accuracy is important.

Danger with plastic lenses is that if you throw it in your pocket with your car keys, or try to wipe the lens clean of debris with your shirt tail, you will scratch it. Scratches will diffract the light attempting to pass through the lens.

Hey guys, I just got mine in the mail today from Amazon.com and it seems that SureFire has definitely fixed the problem. In fact, even with Energizer Lithiums, theres a bit of wiggle room!

I don't think the battery issue was intentional. I base this view on SF's own statement from their web site:.

"This versatile keychain light can also run off of a readily available AAA alkaline battery for up to 13 hours. AAA lithium batteries offer increased runtimes on low-output setting—up to 17 hours."

I think it was a mistake or rather based on SF's own words it was a mistake.

Nice video brother! Thumbs up!

Hey everybody, the DURACELL rechargeable AAA NiMH is the one that fits just like the Surefire battery that it came with.

That silver Energizer Lithium battery is NOT a Lithium-ion. Li-ion batteries are rechargable lithium and produce a higher voltage than standard lithium.

Seen them for mid 40s online. Who pays MSRP for anything? Think a lot of those places charging the full MSRP of above are just trying to make money off of people who have to be first adopters. G2Xs have an MSRP of $70 but you can find them for 10-15 less than that online.
