China confirms human-to-human transmission of Wuhan virus

Chinese health officials have confirmed that the Wuhan coronavirus could spread through human contact. 15 medical staff treating infected patients have been diagnosed. Almost 300 people in China have contracted the virus, and six deaths have been reported in Wuhan. Meanwhile, scientists at the University of Hong Kong have estimated that the virus outbreak has already spread to 20 mainland cities, and that thousands of people could already be infected. On Jan 22, Chinese health officials will join the World Health Organization's (WHO) emergency meeting. The WHO could decide to declare an international public health emergency over the outbreak.
