Who won the debate? Takeaways from Harris vs Trump first presidential debate

In their first US presidential debate, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump accused each other of lying, clashing over the economy, immigration, abortion, and international matters, including Israel's war on Gaza. Al Jazeera’s Kimberly Halkett, joining from Philadelphia highlighted how both candidates made claims that were fact-checked, with The New York Times disputing some. Harris criticised Trump for attempting to repeal Obamacare over 60 times and claimed the Biden administration created 800,000 manufacturing jobs, though fact-checkers challenged these figures. Trump blamed Biden for enabling Iran to finance Hamas and criticised Harris's abortion stance. Both candidates stretched the truth, and their demeanours were scrutinised, with Harris gaining more favour on social media despite initial nervousness.

She said everything a good politician will say. But at the end of the day she will not keep any of the promises. She said what people want to hear, if people are that dumb to believe she do what she made zero effort to do in the past 3 and half years then there you go.

Whilst most US media call it a Harris victory, I wouldn t be all too sure if she actually achieved her goals. On a debate level, I d agree that she did better but yet, there was very little policy substance. The major thing striking me is that she must have intended to use this forum not only to win some debate but to convince ppl primarily of her personality as well as her goals. She mostly had to prove that she s likeable/relatable and trustworthy at the same time as many critique her for the lack thereof or of being yet another corporate puppet whilst Trump could basically fall back to the "why didn t you do this during the past years" storyline - which could be enough tbh. Saw a lot of Hillary traits in her and that more lecturing stance commonly doesn t go down well, even less so with the swing voter/ undecided group as we ve often seen in the past.

My ex boyfriend who was an immigrant did drown my dog in the bathtub. I walked in on it but was too late. The dog died of dry growing later that night. I never reported it because it was so shocking and out of nowhere. My parents didn't believe me until they also got screwed over by my ex. I don't think he did it because he was an immigrant though. I dated other immigrants and none of them would ever do that. I never discovered his reason or motivation for doing it as he refused to talk about it and refused to apologize. He loved that dog though, which made it all even more confusing. It was all really out of the blue. I learned that you could never really trust anyone because they could snap out of nowhere.
