Alphonsus Cassell, better known as Arrow, hails from Montserrat, a volcanic island in the West Indies. He began his career doing classic Trinidadian calypso, but morphed into a rhythmically creative soca artist by bringing salsa, zouk, American rock and blues, and even hip-hop into the mix, culminating in his huge international hit, "Hot Hot Hot," in the mid-'80s. Arrow is famous for his party anthems, and while his lyrics seldom show much depth, he is an expert at high-energy dance music. Vintage Volume One collects two discs worth of Arrow's early and hard to find tracks under the artist's own imprint, Arrow Music.
