I just finished this book yesterday. Such a beautiful story. I loved the ending too. I savored reading the book slow, because it was a nice distraction from the news right now.
I hope you have read some of her other books. The Secret Keeper and The Forgotten Garden are both fabulous reads.

This is one of my favourite books ever! Just finished it and I was so enraptured by the very intricate and complex mysteries that spanned so many generations. What an incredible plot line and great writing as well!
Just a fyi, archivists process and preserve records and work to conserve these important voices and stories, as well as make them accessible. For the pronunciation of the word ‘archivist’, the emphasis is on the first syllable and pronounced like arc-uh-vist

I loved this book ! It was beautifully written! I'm a mom with 3 kids in sports and music so I got the audible version so I could multitask and listen while I drove them around or while I was doing dishes or laundry- I think that helped me get through it lol. I was really sad that Edward was so heartbroken and died never knowing the truth about Lily and how she died !! 💔

Hi Shannon! It was a long one but I knew it would be a good read, Kate Morton is a lovely writer! It was probably the best book for you to start with for her. I have read The Secret Keeper and The Forgotten Garden, I liked The Secret Keeper better than The Forgotten Garden. I have The Great Alone already in my TBR pile, now to tackle it 📚 💖

I loved this book. It drove me crazy at times the punctuation errors!! It sucked me in. I finished it in two days. I love how the author told the story. It's funny how the archivist and the finding of the box lead her to the house. I loved the ghost! I love how all the characters are tied to the ghost! Her death was a sad mistake! I love that the ghost doesn't leave!!! It's definitely her house! I felt bad for Edward his life could have been so different. I also think that there are otherworldly things there as well.

I'm so glad you were late! I stayed up way too late reading it last night. Such a good book! I'm impressed that you were able to summarize it so succinctly. The writing was poetic without being flowery and the characters all seemed so real. I even appreciated the present day characters use of technology being so natural. There's so much to talk about in this book, it's a world unto itself. Ada and the kitten, "little girl lost" stealing from people and on and on. I don't like that the book has been Americanized, the "or" spellings rather than the "our" and the use of the name Fanny. "fanny"in the UK is not something you would call a lady, a lady part
Thanks for this! I could talk about this book for a few hours.
