Bakeries for lunch. All the soup, bread and water for 11 us dollars. The soups are great. The best one is in Hverageroi. They have two soups.

So, this was sort of accidental. I booked a whale watching tour in Akureyri with fishing at the end. I caught 4 large cods. Since I had rented an AirB&B, I was able to cook dinner for several days. Some of the best fish I ever had. Salt, pepper, and some lemon from Bonus. Good times.

I used Air bnb and cooked all our meals. We also bought a big thermos and warm coffee carriers and carried soup/coffee/tea to places like the glacier and waterfalls. SOOO good to have warm stuff after a cold windy trek Also, we snuck in stuff to places like bars and sandwiches. I did love the hot dogs the Reykjavik. The whole place is to expensive overall, it's a requirement to budget.

Breakfast wasn’t hard to find, but definitely a price shock when you get there. The places we visited were closer to $22-$27 per plate and that was just a standard breakfast (bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast). If you throw in two coffees and a tip, it can really add up.

My husband and I just booked a trip to go to Iceland in May! How much would you recommend someone bring as spending money? We have enough time to save and want to experience the food and beer but don’t want to bankrupt ourselves! Haha

Money saving tips in Iceland lol, share a plate 😂 you’ll definitely save a lot of money. Or share a pizza lol. I stayed in Downtown Reykjavik and found the prices to be close to double what you’d normally pay in the US for a meal. Beautiful place to visit, but It’s definitely best to have an eating and drinking strategy while there.

I did have a hot dog there, it was one of the best hot dogs I’d ever had in my life.

Go to B'onus to shop, and once in a while go to restaurateur, Not downtown, thats like crazy. Try to go out of the center. and yes Hot dog is good. Go to B;jarins Bestu. Ask for a dog with everything. Your Guide in Iceland Joe.-
