This is my theory for solving the treasure hunt in Charleston, South Carolina from the book The Secret by Byron Preiss. My first language is french from Canada so this explains my accent. Feel free to share other ideas in the comments. If you do find the treasure with this theory I am not asking for much, you can build a shrine or a monument in my honour, something simple. You can use the Taj Mahal as a template, thank you.

Hi! I know you're right about the Treasure Island reference. But I think that's where it ends. The whole reason, I believe, this book is part of the puzzle (other than buried treasure romance) is the clue at the END of the book. "Pieces of Eight! Pieces of Eight!" Eight is also referenced in the verse "Or on the eighth a scene". That's as far as I want to share 8). But feel free to explore the importance of 8. There are various references in the painting. Just got to look and see it in a different light. Could it be a day? to the words:

Absolutely knocked out by your idea. There has been nothing previously given out which makes as much sense to me. Byron Preiss was a very well read person and I do recognize that he could have used his knowledge as you have suggested. Treasure Island is one of my favorite stories. Just one or two items which should be checked as to whether or not the the timeline of locations co-ordinate with the year his book-THE SECRET- was published. Is there anything regarding the use of the name Margarita ( instead of Daisy) in any of Poe's stories? You drifted a bit sideways with Annabelle Lee I think. But, well done to come up with such an intriguing solution.

Lots of loose connections in your solve. While I agree white point garden is a dead end, I'd suggest you take a closer look at the image and washington square in downtown charleston.
