You know Kathy, you are right about the feelings we have about Maybelline. Wow, it had Kentucky beginnings, just like me!!! I was born in Kentucky. Wow, wow, wow, absolutely fascinating. I can remember my older relatives using that little red box of mascara. They would spit on the brush and rub it in the tin and then apply it. Oh my goodness, i loved helena rubenstein mascara. It was great. I wish I could still get it., I remember those blooming colors kits! Beautiful finished look. I really enjoyed this, Kathy. Love, Melissa

That was a fascinating history! I'd love to read the book. I so enjoy your makeup history videos. I'm 54, and I remember purchasing Great Lash mascara back in the day. I have childhood memories of my mom using the red eyebrow pencil and lipstick.

What an amazing story/video you did here - so happy you did this. Would never occur to me to check the history of Maybelline.  Definitely will purchase the book and I dont even like to read. lol  As a child I can remember standing at moms dresser (so tiny, I stood on my tippy toes to see her in the mirror) watching her put her makeup on.  The only makeup I can remember would be the Maybelline in the little red box (plastic) w/the brush - she would carefully wet the brush first and then apply to her lashes. What a wonderful memory of my mother you just stirred in me.  Guess I take my love of makeup from my mom.  Have used many brow pencils in my lifetime but I always go back to my little red, wooden Maybelline pencil in Light Brown - will never change. So happy they never changed the name.  Thank you for doing this.  Coming over from Melissas' house.

Born in 1951 this was such a blast from the past! I think my first cosmetic purchased was the Ultra Lash, it went so well with my mini shirt and little kitten heels we wore with our pantyhose. We still laugh about trudging through snow in 20 below zero Wisconsin weather dressed like that to get on the school bus. Fearless! This family's story would make a great 10 episode series for Netflix. I really enjoyed this Docutorial and am going to share on FB with my friends. Brava for another great video. Smooches

When you said you thought maybelline's story was the most fascinating, I couldn't wait as I have loved all the previous makeup line stories!  Good video with so many interesting tidbits (that fire bombing was strange!)  I didn't know Loreal purchased Maybelline, that it is the #1 line and so many other things.  Pretty look Kathy.  xoxo Elle
