Applying Meguiars ultimate compound by hand | Does it Work?

Today i'm going to show you how to compound a car by hand by using Meguiars Ultimate Compound without a machine polisher to prove once and for all that you don't need a machine polisher to get a good finish. Below i have a simplified step by step process to help you find your way around this video.

If it dries, use an instant detailer spray and wipe, it will come off no sweat. Especially if you find some polish thats dried in an area you forgot. Just a tip if anyones reading this.

One of the easiest compunds/polishes to use by hand. Works superbly. Makes a clear coat finish shine like glass and vastly improves a worn out single stage finish.

Black cars look so good when done right. I used this product with my machine to get rid of a few Mark's after a prang with a hex logic pad. Ended up doing it by hand afterwards and it looked better. Great content as per and keep it up Dave.

I know this is an older video, but I followed it to the letter yesterday except at the end when I used turtle wax hard shell rather than ceramic. The car came out awesome. As you said the polish needs to get buffed off very quickly and yes my left shoulder feels broken. The car looks new and I’m very grateful for the tips.

I tried the ultimate compound on an old work truck I bought. 17yr old truck, probably never had a wash once. Heavy oxidation on the paint. Power washed it, hand washed it. Then I used the Ultimate compound on it. I did 2 feet by 2 feet sections at a time so it would'nt dry out and whipped off the excess. 3hrs later it turned out beautifully. finished it up with some black plastic trim restorer and it was like i had an almost new truck again. Went from being kind of ashamed of it, to proud to drive it around. Never done it before. Others cars i would just pressure wash and call it a day. But it was an old truck with lots of life left so i wanted to try it. It's pretty simple.

As a DIT detailer this encourages me to try this as appose to the machine approach that I am not comfortable using with all the pads you need to know and understand how they work. I used to detail cars 20 years ago. and i'll tell you what you hit the nail on the head, most of customers are not looking for perfection in a paint finish, most of my customers just wanted a well done interior (100% cleaned) and a wash polish and wax--i never used compound.
