My neighbor gave me his Mazda because it was making ticking noises and the dealer quoted him thousands for repair. It cost me only $ 7 for the can of MAS cleaner. Car runs fine now.

Might want to test coil after heating also. Copper resistance of coil goes up with temp and sometimes the open is hot. Great Job! Thanks! Going to test my wifes rear bank.

I thought I saw some small metal particles on the screen when you removed the solenoid. As these are, I believe, supplied with oil pre-filter, is this an issue?

Cool. The VVT solenoid had a tiny leak on my 2006 Toyota Matrix at 206k miles, so a replaced it and it's filter with OEM units. I thought it was the body that was leaking, but it turned out to be the o-ring, so I could have just replaced that. Also, you can use an m12 battery to bench test the unit to make sure the valve is moving freely.

I removed the ocv valve and it had what I believe is metal shavings in it. Looked like silver glitter. How bad is it? About to install it back in and test it to see if that noise stops. Your videos have been very helpful thank you.

Do you need to let the solenoid dry completely before putting it back where it goes?

Like, letting it dry 100% of all the mass air flow sensor cleaner? Or does it not matter?

Hi Andy! Question: Shouldthe battery be discy before removing the VVT solenoid?

rudysanchez

Is that oil ring leaks or loses pressure with that also gives a false reading to the VVT sensor

Even VVT’s only last 80-100K miles
GUNK 😮THAT IS METAL FRAGMENTS

You recommend using that cleaner. Could one use a degreaser& let a solenoid soak in it?
