Designing a home that fully supports your needs is NOT about decorating. It's about ensuring that systems are in place to help you function more efficiently and comfortably in your space. Styling should come last. Spend less time buying new things and more time understanding how you live.

Which room in your home needs a little more attention today?

Due to a traumatic experience, I've been afraid to be home alone, but since I've really started to design my home, I feel more comfortable about being home alone. My home feels more like "Home" instead of just a place I go to after work. Thank you Julie for all of your videos. I'm truly feeling more relaxed. 😊

Julie, you are a real designer, not like the fakes that are on youtube. Thank you for explaining to your audience the concept of design .

I love videos that look at the emotional and psychology of room design but there doesn’t seem to be many out there so thank you! They are even more important to me now as I’m single and can be in control of my home for the first time and I want it to show my personality and be calm, inviting spaces where I smile to enter each room.

Thank you Julie been watching for a while just realized I had never subscribed. I’m into plants too, a renter, recently moved from regular apartment, into a small senior co op apartment, and I loved the small spaces series and lighting videos. I changed the bulbs in the chandelier and bathroom right off. So many tips which btw help when I moved in here. I had already learned things and still getting settled. Thanks again.

Wow! You could make a stress free video each week forever and I’d take notes each week. I’m loving white and neutrals at the moment and you made me realise why. Growing up with hideous colours my parents chose, mismatched furniture, a lot of books and leftovers from relatives made me hate my environment. Living with a hoarder also did that. Seeing so many neutrals over the past 5yrs made me want a calm decluttered home.

I love you videos! My house is tiny, and cozy, but not cluttered. I am am just slowly changing from the summerlook (bare floor, light coloured pillows) to winterlook (darker colour pillows, more draping, carpets) and I have saved up for a new ratan chair that I can pick up in a week! Will probably throw a blanket over it for winter. I am saving up for a secondhand chest of drawers for the entrance, the one I have there is falling apart...
The fengshui is perfect in my house. The cristal that will bounce light all over is arriving next week. I have mirrors for some extra light.

Plants give you a sense of calm and comfort and they are my go to decor items. I move my plants a lot and my husband sometimes teases me to give the plants a break...lol. Thanks for the tips on lighting, Julie.

I am renting a 1345 sq feet house ( cause moving often for work) so my walls are white ☹️ I used to decore white/black/beige and neutral colors but my mood was not as happy as now ; I have changed everything, many colors, and plants, and a rug on a wall as a tapisserie. Feeling much much better ! ( I admit that my bedroom is red/bordeaux and pink)
Thank you Julie 🙏

I downsized to a condo in my later years and I love it. I’ve really tuned into my creative side of decorating. I like my area to feel airy and one thing I’ve learned is furniture that has feet and allows space between it and the floors, really opens up the area.

❤HOW TRUE! Knowing how you move and work in your home makes a difference in where things go. Something most of us don't think about. And let's not forget how a clean home helps us feel relaxed❤

@6.51: This is the absolute best reality-based garage conversion I've ever seen. The detail of matching wood tones with the ceiling and oversized bookcase really bring the space together effortlessly.
The curtains on the overhead door track just makes perfect sense in a beautiful way. Adding a glass door in lieu of a regular wood or metal door, let's in a gang of light and adds the perfect amount of warmth. I swear, if it were not for the overhead garage door opener, there's no way I would've looked at that image and seen a garage space. In fact, I didn't even notice it until viewing this video a second time. You make me wish a garage! Bravo, JK! Bravo! That's what I'm talking about!

I've already had a lot of these in mind as I plan my first home with my partner but you've definitely given me a lot of other things to think about. Especially lighting our windowless bathrooms 😮‍💨

I think of black and white colours. As a quilter I love putting colour together but don’t want that in my home so much. Seeing maximalist spaces with every saturated colour doesn’t do it for me but going through the options of less saturated colour was awesome. I love dark green turquoises to go with plants. I think it adds a pop of colour with subtly going with the neutrals too.
