I have a theory that Caine is already or at least starting to become sentient. We’ve only really seen Caine freak out twice; once when Pomni saw the exit in ep. 1 and now this. Notice how when it cuts back to Zooble being the therapist, he genuinely seems to be talking about sincere concerns he has about his adventures for everyone before announcing the others have returned. He didn’t have his wacky watch even though he pulled his arm up like he did. He had no way of knowing they had returned until he flew off and even noting specifically “pretend we weren’t having a therapy session” as if Caine was nervous about them finding out he cracked a little.

Also imo caine designs really nice adventures!

You have to appriciate that Caine is trying his best to help and understand, but he is literally incapable of sitting still long enough, or comprehending on an emotional, empathetic level to do anything.

Complete control over this digital world, but that doesn't mean anything if you don't know what to do with it to make people enjoy themselves, which is his supposed goal.

There's a reason Caine keeps forgetting. As emotional and silly as he might be, he's just a computer program. What do computer programs do when they detect the problem? They fix the problem. What happens when the problem is solved? It doesn't matter anymore. Caine is already firing on all cylinders at all times, trying to keep the world itself together. He provided a solution, so he believed the problem to be fixed. So he forgot that Zoobl's problem was even an issue to begin with. Hence why when he offered the same solution again, he immediately forgot what they were talking about, because the problem has been "solved". As human as he might see, he is NOT human.
