Yup facts. Cuz he can’t even control it when he’s full Nika mode. I could definitely see him going gear 5th a couple more times, and then he’ll put a twist on it where he’s actually in control but also in Nika mode at the same time.

This would actually be a really good power balance. Let’s say gear 5 is his most powerful his base is his weakest but his hybrid is a good compromise so that he can go longer in battle and he could really learn how to use it to conserve energy. Such as switching to his full form for bigger attacks and switching back to hybrid or base to catch his breath. This could be a good way Oda can work around the energy drain for Luffy but still have Luffy develop his DF mastery

That's assuming his Korbel baseform isn't already his hybrid form. Think of it this way, They say that if a human eats choppers fruit, nothing happens but they get stronger and regenerate faster, maybe get a little smarter. but there's no outward changes.

Choppers fruit is the Hito Hitomi no mi
Luffy's fruit is the Hito Hito no mi model: Nika
Sengokus fruit is the Hito Hito no mi model: Buddha

Since Niks is so close to a normal human, it wouldn't be far fetched to say that luffys normal body was replaced with the hybrid form being that both him and Niks are human deep down just that Niks had extraordinary powers similar to goof ahh rubber.

To me, Luffys transformation isn't an awakening but just the full transformation, so he's finally going from his hybrid base to his full transformation similar to SenGoku how he hasn't shown a hybrid form and honestly I doubt he has one but he might.

I think Luffys full awakening is yet to be seen, the full embodiment of that is Niks and his powers have yet to be achived, and I mostly belive this because this is a bit too early for his final transformation to appear. of Niks truly is his final zoan form, then I assume he'll master it and augment it like he does his baseform like a Gear 4th + Gear 5th
