Thaht was symbolic as fuck. Naked human is the most vulnerable in every aspect.. At first the aeomnd was in this fetal position - weak, delicate, in need of care. Later, despite his nakedness/weakness, he stood up proudly and instantly became a dangerous villain. He didn't need armor to look decent. What a transformation.

I think it actually really impacted how we see the character and it wasn't done in an egotistical or mocking way. It was one of the few times a nude scene served full purpose, he's closed off with her but then to his brother he feels the need to assert that he isn't the gentle man who needs nurturing they just witnessed. It's not like it was another JRRM stupid sex and nudity scene to have just because.
