And like you say, i think PS2 commentator and Reddit is an echo chambers where the hard truth and elephants in the room aren't pointed. They are topics that are borderline heresy in the community and that is a factor why the game is where it it right now.

And by Elephant in the room not pointed much is Wrel and his decision-making and PR skills.

As an OG gamer who played Planetside 1 a long time ago, I thoroughly enjoy the comments you make in your videos. Constructive feedback and criticism are essential for moving the gaming industry forward, and I appreciate your willingness to provide it. I value my time spent gaming and despise being used as an unpaid game tester. One thing to notice, is that, in the last decade, the gaming environment has severely changed. A lot of studios/publishers, mainly Triple A publishers, seem to spend more in Marketing than in the development of the actual game they are making. And this is more common nowadays, of course it would grow anyone cynical. Incomplete products being launched to the market, selling more hype than the proper product, more greedy publishers, the major players following trends and zero innovations


Battlefield and Call of Duty, are peak examples of games that stopped innovating, and just follow trends.

been playing battlefield since battlefield 1942, i enjoy hearing this type of commentary. battlefield has definitely fell in quality over the years. i'll play 2042 off and on, but man does it feel hollow to what a battlefield usually feels like. keep it up

Late half of the 2000s, and start of 2010s was so good for gaming.
It felt like it was when devs started really grasping their tools to create great games, and before the money-lizard (american) investors took control of the industry.

If these discussions are meant to be had, it’s time to accept the new player input as well. I’m tired of seeing people on reddit shut down someone else’s opinion on the game state and blaming lower end stats as an invalid one. If they’re new, no shit they aren’t going to have good stats, but newbies are exactly what the game needs to stay afloat.

The simple matter is that people are only going to play a game if they enjoy it, and only criticise it if they wish it were better. Criticising Planetside is especially easy as there are so many different stances to take: infantrymen, tankers, pilots, leaders, squad members, solo players, casuals, objective focused, veterans, new players, etc. All these roles and more experience the game differently and want different things from it in future updates. For a long time development focused on convenience to facilitate solid infantry fights, keeping the action constant and engaging, as the cost of the vehicle game and any semblance of strategy beyond population dumping.

We are now left with those players who enjoy what was created, as well as those who hope for more.
