Hal Kempfer, CEO of Global Risk Intelligence & Planning (GRIP) and retired marine intelligence officer, says the South China Sea tensions are on a “hair trigger,” adding that this area is America’s biggest financial interest. Kempfer tells Michelle Makori, Lead Anchor and Editor-in-Chief at Kitco News, that if tensions turn into a kinetic conflict, the impact will be massive disruption to the global marketplace and overwhelming inflation.

How is the South China Sea different to China, than the Caribbean Sea is to the US?

Shortages and inflation are causing people to become massively confused. The las 4 years has been primarily Shortage driven price increases, yet The Govts around the world have been making monetary policies to fight non-shortage inflation. The world has become stupider every year.

Amazingly, the U.S A. fails to have even one available aircraft carrier and companion carrier group to defend Taiwan, to defend the Philippines, to defend Japan, Guam, et al. NOT ONE due to overcommittment to the Middle-East and due to the need to address the need to overhaul so many of the carriers making up the U.S. fleet.
Our security folks in the Biden Admin. and Loyd Austen, Defense Secretary are pathetic strategists, so disappointing!!

I remember watching an interview, on the SCS, by an ex-Whitehouse strategist, who recently got incarcerated, during the initial stages, of the Cervesa sickness, about how a previous Government, to Trump's first term, agreed with China's demand that any US naval vessel switch off all advanced telemetry equipment, when navigating through the SCS. I wonder why...
