The majority of comments are about the judges being boring and mean.. they're just straight forward and to the point. They taste the food and tell the cook what is bad and what is good. No nonsense, no drama, it's their way of life and I'm here for it. I like that it's not drawn out and full of fluff, it's just about the food.

The first contestant, Mandy, is such a nice lady. I worked with her for a few years. Always a lovely person!

16:50 is the face of a man who has heard no you're not good enough time and time again. Thi resounding yes shakes him to his core. So lovely to see such emotion from happy a person. Check on your happy friends folks. No telling what war is waged behind a smile 😌

Started with Masterchef America, binge watched masterchef Canada, and am now here for Masterchef Ireland. This is amazing!

The energy level can't get any lower... Feels like an audition for who will cook in a funeral?

It's like cooking for the Gestapo

I’m from the US and our version of Masterchef is virtually unwatchable with how hyper dramatic it is. The tacky, Ice Capades-esque lighting, the soundtrack! The manipulative abuse of the judges, sometimes blatant, sometimes insidious is stomach-churning when contrasted with their praise.

When a judge compliments a dish, it’s as if the contestant were touched by God Almighty. Not just tearing up, but sobbing, blood running from their eyes. The music swells as their family waiting backstage falls to their knees in beatitude.
It’s actually very sick how the contestants are treated on camera by the judges, by each other.

You’ll have Gordon Ramsey go to one cooking contestant and ask, “who do you think is the worst cook?” And they’ll name someone, saying something innocuous like, “I just think Jane has room for more growth.”
And next shot, Ramsey is casually walking up to contestant Jane and says “Everyone here thinks you’re a failure. What do you think of that?” And you’ll see that person just wilt. It’s hideous.

This version is actually about cooking with realistic highs and lows, actual criticism, not just poison, not horrible drama!! Love it!!

I feel like those dumplings looked incredible. I bet he would of been accepted in Master Chef Canada.

These judges are harsh! I've seen several countries' Masterchef, but these chefs are DEMANDING! FOR THE FIRST SEASON! But, maybe the flavors simply wasn't there. I can't taste through the screen, but the look of these dishes are a delight in plating, very far from some of the stuff I've seen elsewhere, where they truly are amateurs (they talked about refinement but they already had that, the dumplings guy had paperthin wrapping, that's refinement and clear skill! I simply cannot do that myself). These people clearly know what they're doing at least, even if they didn't wow the Micheline starred chef, who's on a whole different level...I guess. He was displeased by them being not already at a Masterchef lever! But, that's what the program is not ABOUT! It's about training good chefs into BECOMING Masterchef. I just disagree with his attitude and lack of pedagogical ideas and mentorship ideas. (for me Masterchef Australia is simply THE Masterchef. They truly create spectacular chefs in that program, not seen elsewhere),

The judges make this show unbearable. Not an ounce of kindness, warmth or humility. I hate them with a passion yet I've absolutely no idea who they are. That Dylan McGrath has a very cruel face.

51 minute show presentation. Commercials every 1 minute. may as well be selling the products with the show as a distraction. for me, this is a "no".

I think I'd enjoy this show if there wasn't a commercial every 2m.

"Your rice is too bland, but I like the spice." Umm what? How the heck is it bland and spiced well at the same time??

This just popped up on my youtube selection. It is restaurateur and NOT restauranteur. The show itself says restauranteur. Incredible!

they spend literally no time photographing or commenting on the food, we know nothing about what's right or wrong with it

person: *gives food*
judges: "nah it's shit mate sorry" / "yeah OK here's an apron!"

What a good jury. Integrity and professionality comes together ❤ I love the Australian version, RIP Jock Zonfrillo, gonna miss his personality sooo much, but this feels more serious. Good jury, on point, no show needed.

amazing difference between this and The US version, all these contestants are lovely and humble and The americans are loud and obnoxiously arrogant and the food here is really on another level
