As a Christian myself, I thought it made valuable points. I didn’t feel it was attacking the church, only critiquing. The idea of the most worthy leaders being the ones who don’t want power is a very biblical one, and I didn’t feel it was criticizing all church leaders. Even the ones who were criticized were humanized and shown to not necessarily be bad men because of their mistakes (thinking particularly of Adeyemi asking Lawrence to pray with him when Lawrence confronts him about his affair)

As an Episcopalian, I really dug some of the liturgical elements in the film. That was really about it for me.

Same, it was well shot and well acted but I didn't find the story very immersive or the characters particularly engaging or accessible. I would honestly rather rewatch 'Gladiator 2' and I rate that a 5.5.

2/3 of this movies is quality prestige cinema and 1/3 is a well intended but oddly executed and preachy miss that makes the whole thing only fine. I still dig it and have no issue with it's nominations especially Fiennes but yeah, could've been much better.

As a Catholic, I’m so glad to see non-Catholic Christians tossing this film in the trash as well… secular cultural is having an all out war with Christianity and they would love nothing more than to further drive a wedge between Catholic and Protestant Christians.
