A former track and field star, Tyreek Hill played primarily as a return specialist as a rookie, but has transitioned to strictly playing wide receiver. Following his rookie year, he received the nickname "Cheetah" in reference to his speed. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his eight seasons in the league, won Super Bowl LIV with the Chiefs, and was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team as a punt returner.

Noah Lyles is an American professional track and field sprinter who competes in the 60 meters, 100 meters and 200 meters. His personal best of 19.31 seconds in the 200 m is the American record, and makes him the third fastest of all-time in the event. He is a one-time Olympic champion and six-time world champion.

In the 100 m, Lyles won the gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games, is three-time world champion (4 x 100 m relay in 2019, 100 m and 4 × 100 m relay events in 2023), and was a 100 m and 4 × 100 m relay gold medalist at the 2016 World U20 Championships.

In the 200 m, Lyles is a three-time world champion (2019, 2022, 2023) and is the bronze medalist at the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games. He also won a gold medal in the 2014 Youth Olympic Games.

Lyles completed a sprint treble by winning gold medals in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 4x100-meter events at the 2023 World Athletics Championships.

Nfl combine lets the athlete leave the blocks when he decides. That is why they have fast 40 yard times. In 100m you leave when the gun goes, there reaction time in that. This is part of the reason why nfl guys get trounced on the track. Their times simply do not translate over to track 1 for 1

the primary reason this is light work for noah is Tyreek hasn’t only trained speed. His build is formed for football. Denser muscle groups, less joint mobility, etc.

i think had Tyreek been a track athlete his whole life… this race would at LEAST be closer than it is in that last 50m stretch

I know everyone talks about this but what if lyles DID get a better start?

Reaction time : 0.176s
60m split: 6.44s

PB difference:
- reaction time: 0.176 - ~0.130 = 0.04s
- 60m split: 6.44 - 6.43 = 0.01s

He had the slowest beginning 10m (probably because of pressure) of 0.195s so if it was a good as the second slowest, 0.191s (from kenneth bednarek) that is a difference of 0.04s.

Adding all the improvements together we get: 0.004 + 0.04 + 0.01 = 0.054s
Subtracting that time from 9.774: 9.784 - 0.054 = 9.73s

That would take him from being 13th fastest man in the 100m to around 5th or 6th

Hill claiming he could beat Lyles in a 40 yard race is dumb. It's not an Olympic event, nobody trains for that shorter distance. But if Lyle 's dedicated himself for a year to train for 40-yard dash, it wouldn't even be close. But there were other Olympic sprinters that can run a better 40-yard dash than lyles, like Christian Coleman, among others. The world champion indoor 60 meter sprinters
