I met this boy when I was in the 2nd grade, he was so sweet and so different from anyone I had met. I had just lost my mom and gained what I thought would be a lifetime friend. We dated for several years throughout the course of elementary, junior high, high school and well after. I never shared a connection with someone the way i did with him. We connected on so many levels, we allowed ourselves to be vulnerable with each other. We shared music. We danced together, laughed, brought people together who would never be together. We shared an energy. We broke up and stopped talking, but would pop up in each other's lives at least once or twice a year checking on each other. I got into a relationship and had a baby, started a family. It wasn't the best relationship I started, but it took me away from the family I needed to get away from in order to grow. I haven't spoke to him in a year or so. Last night I found out that the police had shot and killed him in his front yard. I'm still in denial, and not sure how to grieve. I just wanted to say you were the sweetest man I have ever met and you never failed to brighten the room and be the loudest brightest soul.. you will be so very missed by too many people whose lives you've touched. RIP JAM. ❤
