Maybe the city can use some disaster relief funds to lease some of the empty downtown office space. set up temporary classrooms, and bus kids to the temporary classrooms until mid-February.
Honestly, its only a few weeks til mid-February, so I don't know why that would set any child's education back too much. But for those families that simply can't afford to take the 2 to 3 weeks off, I think the above idea gets the job done. It's inconvenient, but it's just for a few weeks.

if only they could have, and maybe they could have I don’t know, left the back up generators on the school if they had those even, and then left the heat on in the water dripping over that time, and then maybe the pipe would not have burst.
