A stretch of the Thames has been described as a floating 'slum city' by angry residents near Hampton Court Palace. They claim twenty boats are moored off publicly owned land, which means they don't pay mooring fees. And that's it's an eyesore to forthcoming visitors to the flower show. Gareth Furby has been to find out more.

The poor residents of Hampton Court how will they ever be able to carry on living a normal life after this. Their cucumber sandwiches have been tainted with this atrocity.

That section of river has always been a dwelling for Bargees for hundreds of years, these people were quite often born on and worked the river for all there lives. This snob knows nothing about his own area.

I have been living on the Thames near Hampton Court for years on my U Boat and have never had any complaints, I do stay submerged in the day time due to Destroyer activity.

Blatantly lying about guys who obviously bailing water from a small boat and inferring its sewage is pathetic

People need to live and these people have found alternative living arrangements. If they were homeless and living in the streets then these same people who are complaining about them now would complain even more. It's just sad how people judge others before setting up any dialogue.

No matter what you do in life, there is always ALWAYS going to be someone there to pick fault. Thats the problem with opinions, we've all got'em and not all are palatable 🤷‍♂️

Having spent a week in Abingdon and touring around, the River, I was struck by the friendliness of all the people associated with the River, lock keepers and boat people as well, and found a love for Real Ale, especially the green one! I hope to return soon!

meanwhile the real problem in England with a certain religious cult that has a epidemic problem with grooming gangs is ignored.

I get the impression that some want only shiny new boats in posh parts of the river and older boats to be segregated.
