Benzema and Valbuena goals enough for French victory.
A goal in either half sent England to their first defeat of the season and give France a well-earned victory on their first visit to Wembley.
Peter Crouch's late consolation with his first touch of the game was not enough for Capello's men who came back well after being outplayed for much of the first hour.
Strikes from Karim Benzema and Mathieu Valbuena gave the French a two-goal advantage with 55 minutes played and from there it was always tough for a young England side, fielding three new faces, to come back for a draw.
The French squad at Wembley consisted of 4 players used to the high pressure of the Premier League. They were Arsenal's right-back Bacary Sagna, left-back Gael Clichy, midfielder Samir Nasri, along with Chelsea forward Florent Malouda. France and England last met just two years ago, but of the 22 players that started that match only five have the chance to play at Wembley - Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard, Gareth Barry, Eric Abidal and Florent Malouda. England were the favourites to win the game with the bookies largely due to home advantage, but of the two inexperienced teams the French have played together more.
