In the early years, Robin would put his hand, to his ear, to help with his singing. When technology advanced, he could use an ear piece and such, so he took to microphone and mic stand holding.

Just so very cute our rob, loved the way he did this n our mo sometimes copied and in one tried to stop him by holding his hand behind his back so funny. Loved them both n were always up to things the twins. Since tiny. People are right Robin was holding it to hear the intro and block out the rest as the music played n hear his bits n were to stop n were to breathe and were to join back, he was an expert and cud do it without too, but had excellent hearing but that helped also not to high in his ear. Bless him miss the twins our rob n our mo.gone too quickly out of all our lives n here in the family we adored all 3 of the local lads, our Barry too. Our robs beautiful falsetto n our mos lovely falsetto voice he can do too and of cause Barry. All them now can be heard doing all levels, I'm glad to say. Loved robs low voice on girls do fall in love n mos on fanny n nights on Broadway 1975 midnight special. ❤❤❤😢😢😊😅😅🌹🌹🌹💙💙both twins best humour n round here knew them to be hilarious in Manchester they lived few streets away n our neighbours not once but twice. Second time if only I knew. That was down south then n it our precious mo. Loved n remember every day still hurts they had to go away. Humble down to earth sweet kindest guys I've ever met. I read an interview with his widow that Robin had extremely accute hearing. He could hear a fax come in in a first floor office from a third floor bedroom in their huge house. I wonder if that was why he needed to tune things out to hear his own voice over what must have been a somewhat constant din.
