Those little delightful violin lifts in the verses of several tracks especially in i think 1st or 2nd track really are fantastic and speak of this bands attention to detail here. Overall great coming together of so many layers that really is pulled off well, with several beautiful interludes, and it altogether sounds effortless despite all the tangible work pounding together like a warring cacophany of several different isolations. That 4th main track really shows off the more expansive side to the bands considerable repertoire - i imagine much like the cover art, just before we leave the relative shelter of those tall fur trees, the harsher winds that will suddenly be there against your bared face, as that oft ignored shelter nature provides us dissipates, harsh and stunningly visceral music that expands and expands...Darkly delightful brooding and immersive soundscapes next to harsh if sometimes too trebly for my hearing at full blast textures for my delicate ears, but at the right volume just below the highest setting....fantastic...this album has huge scope and i love it!🖤

Two words to describe this album : incredible and magnificent. I absolutely didn't see the hour and a half go by ! Everything is perfectly mastered, both in the musical quality and in the sequence of the tracks going from Black Metal to Ambient/Dark Folk. It's a real journey that is proposed here, offering all the possible nuances of winter, yet so perfectly homogeneous. In short...masterpiece.

The cover reminds me of being lost on what I thought was a trail, it took me a long time to figure out it wasn't and I was following an old logging road that was all washed out, pretty sketchy shit even without snow. After maybe an hour I turned around, and found the correct trail only to get lost again due to it being a field and there was no clear trail markings, so I turned around and still have not seen that lake. A few years after this there was a massive fire in the same area. Hiking in snow is no joke, as some of us have learned the hard way, with that Hail Windir!
