Is Bella Hadid suing Adidas? SL72 campaign

On 15 July, 2024 Adidas released a campaign relaunching the SL72 shoe which featured supermodel Bella Hadid as one of the main faces, alongside other celebrities and athletes.

But the advert didn’t achieve what Adidas had hoped.

The shoe was originally launched in 1972 the year of the Munich Massacre in which 11 Israeli athletes were killed. For years, the victims' families have blamed German authorities for failing to protect the athletes and for their lack of transparency about the security lapses that contributed to the tragedy.

When Adidas released the campaign, the Israeli government, as well as pro-Israeli groups, criticised them for hiring Hadid as ambassador for the campaign because she is Palestinian.

The sporting company apologised for the “unintentional” link and said it would "revise" the remainder of the campaign which included removing Bella Hadid from the advert.

Sources are reporting that Bella Hadid is suing Adidas for their lack of public accountability.

Love that it took an immediate backlash for Adidas to boot Hadid. When it took several weeks and a continued campaign of abhorrent and unquestionable antisemitism for the same company to sever ties with Kanye.
