We've been waiting patiently for Spanish producer/musician El Guincho (aka Pablo Díaz-Reixa) to finally make it out to Los Angeles and pay us a visit. Always adventurous and creative, his work is a futuristic mix of Afrobeat, Tropicalia and rock.

Let's clarify -and those who know spanish and listen close to Hiperasia should know better-, that El Guincho is over the top and EXTRA with the VoiceProcessor (call it vocoder/autotune or what you will) NTENTIONALLY and almost as a parody of sorts.

Why? He doesn't take himself (and this is quite a contradiction from some artists) too seriously. And after the success of POP NEGRO, he wanted to actually make anti-hits. This is NOTHING NEW in artists. Again, have a listen to Hiperasia. Also remember John Lennon after The Beatles -no comparisons intended-, he wanted to sound NOTHING like his former group after he separated from them. Lots of folks heard the stories about him throwing himself in the floor against a floating mic to sound different. That's just one example.

Bonjour,
Je viens d'écouter l'album Pop Negro. J'apprécie énormément les compositions musicales riches et belles mais pas le chant que je trouve en inadéquation. Je ne comprends pas la langue des paroles et ne peux donc me raccrocher à celles-ci en cas elles étaient géniales, restant gênée dans l'écoute par cette voix semi éraillée et pauvre.
Pourtant les tonalités musicales sont belles. Je ne veux pas dénier son oeuvre à l'artiste mais regrette que le chant ne soit pas à la hauteur des compositions.
L'interprétation du morceau en live avec les déformations sur la voix ne vient pas non plus améliorer ce titre, Bombay, que j'adore. El guincho devrait essayer de compléter son oeuvre avec un autre interprète et des sonorités plus riches au chant.
