The REAL Way To Play 'Rope' by Foo Fighters (UPDATED DESCRIPTION)

***After a lot of negative feedback, I've done a bit of research as to why I'm getting so many negative hateful comments. The ONLY thing that I did not cover correctly is the one little lick that leads into the chorus as well as opens up the song to the full band. The intro chords and chord shapes with the weird sounds, and the way I'm playing the chorus is absolutely correct. If you don't think those parts are right, then you are very clearly wrong. Here's the link to Dave Grohl playing it HIMSELF!!!

After seeing a lot of videos that show you the WRONG way to play "Rope" by the Foo Fighters, I had to make a brief video to show you how to play it the RIGHT way. It's not the whole song, just the main parts that everybody else is teaching WRONG. The guitar is in standard EADGBE tuning.

Thanks! It's actually my dad's. It's a 1979 Gibson Les Paul Pro Deluxe. Not made anymore to my knowledge.

I'm using a Vox VT100 in the video. As for the settings, I used an 80s rock setting I think (a more crunch sounding distortion versus a more modern scooped sound). For treble/mid/bass settings (each out of 10), treble and bass were at around a 6 and the mid was closer to 8. Hope that helps!

@skatelife1913 Chorus starts on a G. Then Em7, then Bm, then A5. That's what I played.

Sounds and looks very similar to my guitar :D. Im not to sure on the exact date of my one, but i know it is 1970's Gibson Les Paul custom

@Kingddd333 It might have been my amp settings. I like having a decent amount of bass dialed in on the amp so maybe it was a bit bassy. But as far as chords and finger placement, I'm pretty sure that's how he does it at the beginning

@rocknroll21 It looks like how he was playing it, just sometimes it seemed a bit off. Like the beginning chords sounded too bassy or something.

I wouldn't bother about negative feedback. It's easy for people to sit and make negative comments, when, chances are, they wouldn't know how to play anything. They make me laugh. Really laugh.

come on i would assume that with a gibson you would have a delay pedal but even then you really need to work on your strumming patterns
