in this sfs video aka spaceflight simulator, we are trying out realistic mode on the PC version of sfs

As a mobile player on SFS, Jupiter is the hardest planet to fall into without burning up, and it's 4 major moons to land on. Imagine doing that on PC. 💀

*Me who is still struggling with regular mode*

4:05 The reason this is happening is because you need to start your burn sooner. Starting it right at the apogee is too late and you’ll fall back down. Try starting it 10 to 5 seconds before, and you should be safe.

can we just talk about how reaching the moon in this gamemode is as hard as if you did it in real life (with unlimited resources)

A couple things I noticed when I tried to build a space station in realistic mode.

They made everything realistic that makes the game harder, but didn't give us any higher thrust engines. Although the engines in the game may have realistic thrust, you have to realize real life is 3D, and you can place multiple engines around each other in a circle, so real life rockets usually have upwards of 6-8 engines on their bottom stage. The saturn V, which to my knowledge is the biggest rocket ever launched, had 5. We only get one or two per fuel tank. However, we still have to deal with realistic air resistance and gravity, which makes it seem so unfair and costly in fuel. If they gave us higher thrust engines to simulate the 3D placement of multiple engines under the same fuel tank, it'd be much easier to get to orbit.

Another thing is fuel. Watching the recordings of old rocket launches, I noticed that even with proportional sizes of fuel tanks to engine, the rockets in real life can burn much longer before running out of fuel. I don't know if that's because the engines in game have bad efficiency or if the fuel tanks don't carry enough, but regardless of the issue real life rockets have much longer burn times on the first stage.

Between these two problems, realistic mode actually makes it much more difficult than it should be to get to orbit.

These are by far the BEST SFS Videos on Youtube

dude I remember when you had like 6k subscribers like what. A month ago? Keep going bro you're actually doing the impossible and I respect that x1000. Keep it up! (btw splace splight simulator cool 👍)

Your channel is highly underrated man, keep up the good work

4:56 thats exactly what it is. youre accelerating, which is measured in m/s^2. every second, your speed increases by some amount of m/s. learning as much of the math behind it as you can really helps get a feel for whats going on. not that you have to work out the equations (although that makes it way easier to do), but just knowing why stuff is the way it is

I always play in realistic mode!
Because it's just a lot nicer to play in, with realistic planet sizes (30x classic mode planet sizes)
it is a little hard but definetaly worth it... If you play it

if the lunar gateway existed now, then this would be way more easier

Your videos are REALLY interesting and fun to watch because i love space

In universe sandbox could you make a binary system orbiting a bigger star and that orbiting a black hole of 100 billion solar masses pls

Once I tried to make it to the moon in KSP RSS and barely made it into a lunar orbit with a few drops of fuel left…

You did much better than me dude! Congrats! 😁🎉

13:44 i laughed for straight away 5 minutes. "It gave me a rendezvous that went through the surface " lol 😂

You've grown so fast. The first time I saw you you were at 1.1k and now you're almost at 100k

The only reason why realistic mode is so difficult for normal sfs is because all the diameters and earth athmspehre get expanded but the rocket parts such as fuel tanks and engines don't get updated. A metaphor for this is shooting a zombie with a BB gun. Over time you might make s dent but not having the proper propulsion systems is making the game feel unfair and extremely difficult

Idea: make a space station around Earth in realistic mode to refuel rockets on their second stage completely so you can go to the moon

4:05 (Osiris already said it but whatever) You need to NOT time warp but immediately start burning your engines. Outside the Kerman line with that kind of orbit, it's very hard to get up because you have a short amount of time. You cannot waste any time. Realistic mode isn't hard btw. I've gotten a random satellite in the orbit of mars doing absolutely nothing and i forgot about it.

Reaching orbit of real earth takes about 7500Km/s of delta V. Use the equation ISP * 9.8 * ln( launch mass / final stage mass ) to find your delta V
