What Happened to Google Stadia

Google Stadia was supposed to revolutionize the video games industry by making game consoles obsolete – dethroning the XBOX and Playstation – and letting you play anywhere with cloud gaming. But after a botched launch and not living up to the hype, what happened to Google Stadia?

As a gamer, I was thrilled that this product failed. That type of business model where gamers can't own their games anymore is horrible and I hope it never succeeds.

Stadia was awful. My parents bought it because they thought it would be fun for all of us to try, but not even a day later, they said it didn’t work and we never connected to the servers. I never played any game on that service.

Btw it isn't true that you needed a subscription. Stadia pro was like Xbox game pass and it used to give you monthly games but you were able to play even without it (from a former stadia player).

Stadia died for the same reason that got Nintendo when tried to do VR with the Virtual Boy. The concept was solid, but the technology just wasn’t good enough yet. I would not be surprised if in 20 years a game streaming service like this is the typical way to play, but internet infrastructure is gonna have to get a _lot_ better for it to be even playable, much less enjoyable.

Average global internet speeds are just not good enough to support a cloud gaming infrastructure. And even when it does, it will be too expensive to be feasible for the average consumer.

Yea "what are you paying for" is kind of a dumb point. Your literally getting a gaming pc while consoles make you pay just to use the internet you already pay your probider for. Also there was a free tier.
The real issue with stadia is that people who play videogame already have a pc/console while people who dont .. well dont play videogames.
And that you couldn't use your already bought games.

I loved Stadia! When they introduced it in my region, the quality was great (no input lag), the base service was free (but you had to buy the games). With the last point, I agree, it didn’t have any major exclusives. But I enjoyed the service very much and still use my Stadia controller for Xbox Cloud

I purchased kingdom hearts for the switch and then realised after i bought it that you play it on the cloud, resulting in the game being unplayable unless you are cabled

I remember playing FNAF security breach on stadia. Even though the game itself wasn't that good, it performed great for me. I also played a good bit of destiny 2 on there and that also worked great for me. Seems like I was lucky

Do you actually do any research? You did NOT have to pay to use it. The subscription was for free games every month and 4k video. And from someone that used it on less than average internet there was little to no imput lag. Get your facts before spreading misinformation maybe?

Nearly all your assumptions were wrong. But good bait farming.
