Effect of a Mother's Laughter on an Unborn Baby

When you’re watching the fetus on ultrasound & the mother starts to laugh, you can see the fetus bouncing up & down! Sometimes when mothers watch this on the screen, they laugh even harder, and the fetus goes up and down even faster. This is not believed to be harmful, as a matter of a fact, some evidence would suggest frequent maternal laughter is linked to a stronger immune system, better blood pressure control, improved pain threshold & even improved emotional regulation & brain development for the baby. Fetal sensory & brain mechanisms for hearing are developed by ~30 weeks. A reminder to make an intention to find some humor in life this week, it’s free medicine.

It's just so magical to me the connection between a mother and child, as mothers we know our kids before ANYONE!!

I used to constantly listen to music when I was pregnant. Even just lounging at home. Now, my kiddo can be playing, running, eating, anything and will get so still for a moment when music comes on. Just listens for a moment and then dances like there's no tomorrow. It's wild that it affects babies in the womb

First time I held my baby girl. She was nursing and I said, Hi, I am your Mommy. She pull back, looked up at me and smiled.
I’ll NEVER forget it.

I sang and read to my son non-stop during my pregnancy. He was reading his weekly library picks at bedtime to me by age 4. The teachers in elementary school loved watching him on library day and were just enamored with him while he explained his choices. He's 17 now, unbelievable singing voice and still loves his Momma despite the teenage rebellion. He likes falling asleep on the couch with his head on a pillow in my lap. ❤

My newly 3 week niece knows when my sister (her mom) holds her and talks to her, she stops crying right away and just stares at her. It's so sweet.

My husband could always calm our daughter while I was pregnant, his voice just made her calm down. So when I was having her (ended up emergency c-section) & she was put on the table crying as they checked her out, I made him stay quiet. When he had the “all clear” to go up to her she was crying pretty hard (having your 24/7cozy heating pad ripped away, I’d be a mess too). I gave him the ok & as soon as she heard him she Immediately looked for him & saw what that voice was attached to & she quieted down & kept staring at him. Most precious moment from a traumatic delivery.❤

On the opposite side of laughter, when I was emotionally distressed by something and feeling very sad, my baby jumped around in my belly as if to remind me of his presence. He was, and is still such a blessing 18 years later. Thank you, Lord.

My son stopped crying instantly and looked right at him after being born when my dad said “Hello little man.” I was living in his house and my dad and I talked to him throughout my entire pregnancy. He knew his Grandpa’s voice. To this day, they are still extremely close.

My son bounced around almost 24/7 like an Olympic gymnast my whole pregnancy, it was so much fun. I would talk to him, play music, laugh etc and when he was born I started talking to him and he instantly stopped crying and just stared at me in amazement. He still loves to bounce around while listening to music and has a wonderful smile.

I spoke to my son, from the moment we thought we had conceived him. Told him everything I saw, was doing.. described it all. I had a lot of complications, and he was born a month early. A million specialists in the room. He had just been born, was being held near my head, under a heat lamp, while they checked him over. He was facing the other way. I called his name, something I did all day, and told him I was right here, and he was okay. He immediately hushed and whipped that little tiny head over to me. Eyes still covered up with the birth. He peeked those little eyes open, and just stared at me.. so quiet and intense. The room went silent. Finally, the nurse said, he knows his momma. He sure did. Best day of my entire life. He’s grown now.. the most precious person I know. ❤️❤️❤️

I played my now 24 yo son ‘Don’t Worry Baby’ by The Beach Boys via headphones on my belly to him when I was pregnant with him. When he gets stressed he plays it and doesn’t even know why.

Few hrs after delivery, they took my baby girl to a different room for some test and i could hear her crying so loud, when they brought her back to me, i quickly picked her up and said hey babe, she sighed and stopped crying right away, she recognised my voice, best feeling ever, 4yrs later, i still remember it as one of my best moments ever❤.

I had a cat, that loved to curl up on my stomach when I was pregnant, and purred loudly, When oldest was born they were worried about a noise he made, then it dawned on everyone, he was purring, and now he still loves cats..lol

Omg my poor son. I had no idea that’s what a laugh would do. I laughed so much during my pregnancy. But, he laughs in his sleep and smiles quite often. So precious!

My son is just 2.5 years old now. During my pregnancy, he had a fav song for which he used to move a lot, just like a kickboxer. During my 8th month, there was no movement for 6 hours and i was in a deep fear. My husband turned on his fav song and the very next moment, kickboxing started 😂😂 i bursted out my happiness in tears.. i would cherish that moment till my last breath. Having baby is definitely a blessing and experiencing motherhood is heavenly..

When my ex was pregnant with our son, I talked to him a lot, wrote stories and poetry about him. He wasn't much of a mover but he did respond when I started talking. My ex even said she swore that he moved a bit when I came home from work one day. When he was born I was always up and at em when it came to what he needed. I was his preferred sleeping buddy and to this day he clings to me when we need help in our days. He's eight now, and while he prefers his big boy bed, he will still try and snuggle up with me on the couch. The little things we do for our children impact them them more than you think. God bless all the parents out there who devote their time to raising and sacrificing for their children.
