Everyone thinks we're all filthy rich but they don't realize how much it costs just to eat and sleep.
When I go on vacation I literally save money.

I live in Switzerland. It's easy to get by as long as you don't buy anything. I'm now food free for 10 years.

As a Swiss person, I can tell you that we’re practically modern day Vikings. Our favorite family activity is raiding supermarkets every Saturday, because everything is so much cheaper in other countries. 😂

I haven't eaten out in almost 4 years of living in Switzerland (except work events). But every time I go abroad, I live like a king.

I‘m a Swiss, we don’t really eat out and if we do, we drive 15 minutes to Germany and eat there something and do whatever…(I live near the border)

My Swiss relatives always take photos of all the menus when they visit us in Germany so they can show their friends at home how cheap it is to eat here😂.

I remember spending $127 USD for a lunch with four people back in 2008. It is VERY EXPENSIVE.

I thought the whole Europe was this expensive when I stayed in Switzerland for a week. I felt like I wasn't earning enough where I came from. I'm glad Europeans find Switzerland to be expensive too

Drove through Switzerland with family once when I was a kid. We stopped in the middle to take a short pee break and look at the views because it was so beautiful. I saw some other people walk around with fries and told my mom I was hungry. She took one look at the prices and said: “no you’re not.” 😅

I had relatives who lived in Switzerland for a few years - they drove to France to get their shopping.
They drove into Germany for Europapark. 😀

Aaah yes the rush when you leave Switzerland for holidays and know you can order a whole meal at a restaurant without sacrificing your first born child

My Asian friends who live in Europe told me they had to pack a lot of instant noodles when they were on vacation in Switzerland.

I was traveling in Paris on a budget and kind of felt the same. I was young and inexperienced… I ended up at the grocery store 😂 cookies, sodas, meats, cheeses and some fresh baked goods from the locals. That’s how I learned to not go hungry on vacation in luxurious places ❤
