Desklab 15.6' Portable 4K Wide Gamut Touchscreen Monitor Review

Lisa Gade reviews the 15.6” Desklab 4K portable monitor, a wide gamut full Adobe RGB touchscreen display with USB-C and HDMI inputs. The monitor works as a single cable USB-C solution (no external power required) with laptops and desktops, and a power adapter is included for use with mobile devices like smartphones, the Nintendo Switch and iPads or when using the HDMI connection. The monitor has speakers, an aluminum casing and a headphone jack. It’s also available in full HD resolution. The Desklab works with game consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox, Macs and cameras too. It’s particularly compelling for photographers and video folks who need a high quality display in the field and those of you with 4K consoles.

Thanks for the review.

The price wasn’t too much of a shock to me. The brightness doesn’t seem great, though. You’ll not see much as a photographer using this outside!

Great review! What’s the name of the stand that you’re using for it?

I subscribe for the great reviews but I really appreciate the awesome T-shirts. :)

It sounds good, as it looks pretty light before holding one in hands at stores. No points to argue in its specs too.

Great review Lisa. I won a portable Lenovo ThinkVision 14T earlier this year which has 1080 screen and a built in stand. Of course the touch screen doesn't work with my M1 MacBook Air but it is great to have an additional screen when I need it.

Finally a worthy upgrade from my 5 year old 1080p portable monitor.

How was the touch response? Was it responsive? Can you draw on it? I had a ViewSonic portable monitor and had to return it because the touch functionality was an absolute wreck despite the monitor itself has good build quality.

Is it fully wireless, i.e. can I connect it to my desktop PC without any cables or internet connection?

I had two. The first one broke down 1 month after warranty, no replacement. Bought another one, did get a little discount. The new on broke down after 5 times of use. Both in the middle of normal use, suddenly. It's great when it works but the build quality seems to be garbage.

Review one of those 15K OLED monitor screens that can get up to 2000 nits

If you're using HDMI for input, could you use a power bank on the USB-C connection? I have a monitor with built in battery for use mobile as camera viewfinder and review screen. If I can power this from a generic PD brick it would give the same ability.

mmm this would be perfect with an OLED too. Probably would quadruple the price since LG doesn't like(oops I mean absolutely hates) making small OLEDs. Anyways, that usb-c with the power delivery is nice as hell, really good for portability. This thing is pretty affordable too, very impressive

So no color graph, lumen rating, viewing angle, or any other details? Where can you buy this, etc?
