In act 1 scene 3 of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare thunder and lightning filled the sky in Rome Cicero meets Casca on the street and Casca describes the terrifying sights he has seen during the storm, men on fire but unburned. A lion walking the street a night owl shrieking in day life. Casca thinks these are omens of doom, but Cicero isn’t convinced. Casca then runs into Cassius and soon, comes to believe that the storm is a warning against being ruled by Caesar. Now part of the conspiracy Casca makes a bargain to shake off tyranny by taking action to deliver themselves from bondage the two then meets Cinna another conspirator who impresses on Cassius ow much they need Brutus to join them the people love Brutus so his involvement will change the crime to virtue in their hearts. The strange events in this scene underscore how ancient Romans explained the world, they understood unnatural events like lion roaming the as omens from the gods and recurring theme in the play is the reading f signs. Cicero a more philosophical explanation that invent metaphor to explain strange events. Casca does that when he understands the storm as a confirmation that Caesar is a danger to Rome. Cassius is a luxurious a follower of a branch of philosophy that believes that the gods don’t intervene affairs by sending omens for intense, he will act on his own behalf.
