Luke Thompson as Mark Antony performs the famous 'Friends, Romans, Countrymen' speech from Act III, scene 2 of Julius Caesar, from our 2014 production in the Globe Theatre, directed by Dominic Dromgoole.

Opposing dictatorship and republicanism, private virtue and mob violence, Shakespeare’s tense drama of high politics reveals the emotional currents that flow between men in power.

I've spent a whole... roughly 8ish hours or so memorizing this speech to recite in class today. Still haven't got it down fully, but I know Brutus SURELY is an honourable man. Wish me luck mates <3

I personally really like this reading. I've seen the whole film though and therefore the entirety of the speech. He weeps, he is impassioned, and the scene before this speech is so powerful. I think his speed shows his put on "nervousness" of having to speak before, basically, a mob. I appreciate this delivery and interpretation of the speech! He is out for vengeance and to do that, you have to be angry - which this Antony is!

Really? You cut this off in the middle of the oration? In the middle of a line?! Fie on thee!

Here's the full speech by Marc Antony.

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus
Hath told you Caesar was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath Caesar answer’d it.
Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest–
For Brutus is an honourable man;
So are they all, all honourable men–
Come I to speak in Caesar’s funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
But Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.
He hath brought many captives home to Rome
Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:
Did this in Caesar seem ambitious?
When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept:
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.
You all did see that on the Lupercal
I thrice presented him a kingly crown,
Which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition?
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And, sure, he is an honourable man.
I speak not to disprove what Brutus spoke,
But here I am to speak what I do know.
You all did love him once, not without cause:
What cause withholds you then, to mourn for him?
O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts,
And men have lost their reason. Bear with me;
My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar,
And I must pause till it come back to me.

In my opinion his delivery of Antony's speech at times is a bit too fast paced.

I feel like the actor is good, but he made it like Antony was an obvious bad guy when it should be heavily speculated. I myself think he believed what he was saying but I have heard it argued about quite a few times.

he's speaking too fast, then stops

Garbage. The chorus is far too slow in their delivery, and then Antony is too quick. There's also no sense of sadness or despair from him.

Charlton Heston had one of the best deliveries of this speech.

Non equity actors, but applaud them for the try

His body language is like a modern gay man, not that of a strong soldier. As an actor he should know the difference. This is really bad
