I think it has something to do with allowing you to visualise certain aspects of your brain: We say "I feel it in my gut, there's something dangerous about that guy." Or "my heart goes out to you." And even in pyschology we speak of the "higher and lower selves" when one's speaking of superegos or consciences and such. Perhaps Chakras (which seems to me to just be visualising certain points on the main bundle of nerves in the spinal chord) is doing the same thing as you having a "gut feeling" - I can scoff at you and say really you tit? You think your gut ls psyhic do you? However I'd be sort of missing the point.

Perhaps there is a synesthesic reason in terms of how that data is being taken in similar to saying blue is cold or a particularly complex flavor is "playful". Is it "science"? Not in the sense of empirical scientific method but the idea of applying the same principles of science as a system which js non-hierarchical, non-authoritative and peer-reviewed is interesting because most religions haven't evolved to keep step wih life today because they just say "believe" instead of "question" - they aren't evolving bodies of knowledge.

Hence we know a lot more today about how to affect the world and yet are very badly out of step in terms of how it should affect us - and it's telling we compensate for this with what materialist reductionism is solely able to offer: Pathological, consumerist materialism.

It seems uncharitable.to dismiss it simply because you don't find it useful or interesting - if it makes a person a more balanced, pure, capable and loving person it seems to me that's a really useful thing as an end product. Does it mean you can invent nuclear weapons with it? No. However perhaps if people were all a little more balanced, pure, capable and loving it would mean we have a lot less chance of blowing ourselves up with them - I'm sure that's better than just saying it's inevitable because we're self-hating, aggressive and short-sighted.
