If you want to visit the Munich, Germany and the small town south, then we have a place for you--Helen, Georgia! This small town in the north Georgia mountains is perfectly themed as a Bavarian German town, right down the architecture and food (schnitzel!!!). It also has a ton of southern charm and hospitality. This hidden gem is only a short drive from Atlanta, but makes you feel like you are worlds away. We stayed for a long weekend and experienced the amazing local food scene, the beautiful waterfall known as Anna Ruby Falls, and one of the most mesmerizing downtown Christmas displays we've ever seen. In my opinion, but when you are in Helen, don't get food that is NOT German. If you want pizza, burgers, Chinese or Mexican food get that at home. Hansel and Gretel Candy Kitchen have great fudge that they make right there, it is expensive, but you are on vacation, spend some money - the fudge melts in your mouth. Excellent music all over, mostly from one man bands. If you want to eat breakfast at Hofer's, you will wait on a very long line, just go across the street at Alpine cafe and pizza (we didn't have pizza) for breakfast - no wait.
