Explaining Critical Race Theory

Critical Race Theory has recently become a hot button issue in the U.S. education system. While it may seem like a new term, this theory has been around for decades. But what does it mean and how could it influence the education of our children? #criticalracetheory #culture #history #politics #cgtnamerica

Next time it would be really cool if you explain what Critical Race Theory is.

I don't rely on the opinions of others often. But when I do, I always look for a woman with rainbow colored artificial flowers in her hair. Stay informed my friends.

I'm sorry but this concept should really stay in terms of using it in university/philosophy studies. I'm researching this for an English assignment and it's really heavy and theoretical. Don't know why its potentially going to be taught in school, this concept is so vague, nobody can pin down a proper definition of it or say what it entails and I can see in general why its controversial. I feel sorry for America truly.

"What is critical race theory?"
"There's nothing to be afraid of, it's been around for 50 years."
"So...what is critical race theory?"
"Look, there's nothing to be afraid of, it's just history."
"Yes, but what IS critical race theory?"
"People keep saying it's all these things it's not, but those people are racist. It's nothing to be afraid of."
Yeah, I don't know much about it, but this video made me kind of afraid of it for some reason.

It really bothers me that when they want black voices to speak out, but when they do they're either mocked or insulted because they aren't saying what these people want to hear. A lot of us don't feel oppressed and its makes me worry that these people are trying to convince us that we are oppressed for less than savory goals.

These people are sick in the head and they don’t even know it. Just need to feel important.

I don't think anyone knows what critical race theory actually is or what it means

For those who still don't understand or don't want to understand what CRT is, I’ll put it very simply: it’s a college only-taught subject, present in certain fields only, whose goal is to study American institutions, their history, as well as the impact they had and currently have on people, through the lenses of race. Its goal is therefore to understand the effects of historical institutional racism on people living today, to understand it and then combat it effectively (you have to keep in mind that Jim Crow ceased to be the law of the land in certain states only 60 years ago, so the effects of institutional racism can still be felt today). It's not being taught in elementary, middle or high school, as an academic theory, it's not anti-white, it's not trying to say that white people should be guilty or anything like that, all it's supposed to say is "look, we have and have had laws and institutions that were written at times where black people were oppressed (slavery, Jim Crow), so let's understand how they impacted black people then and now, so we can effectively modify them for the better", that's all. It's not about individuals, it's about systems.

Don’t need it explained. The American people have spoken. We don’t want it. End of story.

My father use to say that people act racist because of ignorance. People rejected the idea of Critical Race Theory like to remain ignorant. Many white American rejected the idea of teaching in school because they are ashamed or embarrassed about dark moment in US history. Because for centuries it was the white man change the narrative of true US history. America have been living under false history. I came in the US to learn real US history. Because Americans doesn’t talk about true US history since the US colonize the country, which including dark moment in US history. Like slavery and how we badly treated the American Indians. After I been educated I experience what mean to be an American. I can tell you America is very special country. Because we learned from our past mistake and move on head up was proud American. It’s either we chose to ignore the past or learn from it. But I refuse to live base on a lie.

Put One child of each race together in a room and they will be fine. Start creating preconceived prejudice in childrens minds a and you are planting seeds.

••Proverbs 29: 2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
••Ephesians 5: 8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9 For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove(expose) them.
••Ephesians 6: 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (KJV)

While a tiny elite in the UK engaged in slavery, buying from open markets in Africa. My ancestors in the UK worked in a field, then their children worked in a cotton mill. My ancestors fought against slavery. My country bankrupted itself ending slavery. I live guilt free. Thank you.

CRT and intersectionality is fundamentally false because number one it ignores that reality exists, can be scientifically explained, and isn’t just a social construct. Meaning we don’t just behave the way we do because of society. Secondly it focuses on things like race, gender, sexuality, etc. that do not matter because the only thing that matters is class. Class is the only unnatural or non-scientific identity you carry. Your skill is real, but you ability to extract surplus value simply because you have capital doesn’t make you smart, talented or special. Class is the only forced and largely unnatural inequality.

They say thats its unhealthy to live in the past and dwell on the negative aspects of life, history is ugly, terrible things have happened to every race at the hands of another at some point, what i dont see is how this is going to make things arent born racist, its our culture that creates them, talking about it isnt going to make it stop or erase the is segregated and categorised, which i think is where the problem colour of your skin does not reflect the calibre of ones character, we are just people and theres only one human there isnt anything critical about
