The Best Way To Go Wine Tasting in Franschhoek South Africa

All aboard the Franschooek Wine Tram. This is one of the most fun way to visit the different wineries in this beautiful wine region of South Africa.

From the main station of the Wine Tram we sent straight to Grand Provence for a very nice wine tasting and some art. Second stop, Atlas Swift the chardonnay specialists. From there, back on the bus for our favorite wineries in the Cape winelands, Pigcasso! Surprisingly, the reason why we loved this specific vineyard so much is NOT because of the wine but instead because of the painting pig! And no better way to end this wine tasting day then with Mont Rochelle owned by Sir Richard Branson. The food at Mont Rochelle was simply outstanding!

We did the wine train last year, we probably did it wrong but felt fairly rushed. The day before we hired a private driver and had much more fun. We hired them again after the train day. I think if you had several days in Franschoek it’d be better but we stayed in Stellenbosch. Our favorite wineries weren’t accessible from the wine tram.

When you go again, please go to Boschendal! The have one called Le Bouquet and it's sweet. Also, Fairview has goats and their wine is paired with some of the goats milk cheeses. They also have really nice Feta Cheese!
When you also can or when you go to Cape Agulhas (as in one of my other comments) go to Montagu and try their Muscadel it's almost like a sherry. Any other places would be wher you can find good Port Wine!
