I've owned my SNK 809 for 2 years now. It was my first automatic watch and my first Seiko. I had just started getting into watches at the time. I paid $111 for it. As someone with smaller wrists the 37mm size is perfect. Even now and several watches later it still gets a lot of wrist time. Thanks for the great review!

My wife bought me one for 60$ in 2015, I believe. When I saw this watch on Amazon I fell in love. Still one of my favorite watches I've ever worn. The price point for such a beautiful watch really caught me as well. I've worn Casio most of my life and back in 2017 received a Citizen Eco Drive as a college graduation present. It does sadden me to see the price spike, but that's life.

i decided to treat myself to a proper seiko. As much as i like the arabic dial one, it was honesty a fake, so i bought me a Seiko 5s automatic and the differences were amazing. The first proper watch i've really spent on.

Mine is pretty accurate. I find it stays that when when worn constantly and the movement is fully charged. Hacking is overrated—it’s nice but not necessary.

About the time you made this I just got into watches. I bought all 4 colors. It turns out the beige dial is the strap king, even more than the black. I also just got the SRPE51 dresskx and it is awesome. SNK’s are cool. I think I want to polish the bezels on the beige and black ones. I want the black one to look a little more like the Hamilton khaki automatic.

Have the 803 & the just Fantastic!!! I swapped Barton straps and people ask me am I wearing a Breitling!!... they were running in the low 90s on Amazon at the time. I decided not to get the black, cuz it's too close to my diver.

Couple things about snk is the makarina winding and the lume has no indication for 12 its all green so night time can misread by an hour easily

where do you get this movement serviced? I have a few 7s26 and 35's. Nobody in Houston will touch them

If you don't mind the brand name, in my opinion with the price increase of the SNK80X, I would go for an Aliexpress field watch that has great finishing and also has a better movement which is the Seiko NH35 or, there is a lot of good micro brand there like Tandorio or San Martin etc...

"Shake me" is blausable nickname to this. After couple of month use, it is my observation of what it need so often.

Despite being iconic, this watch is still very underated imo.. perhaps because it is understated and a watch to be admired and beloved by the wearer rather than to attract attention.

The cool day date complication, the enamel like shiny black dial, the bead blasted case, the display caseback comes together in a package that really makes it worth multiple times its price.

The only drawback is the movement but even then it is reliable and does its job well. Personally, if I were to upgrade, it will be the sinn556i but then thats in the entry level luxury watch category(tad overpriced nowadays) and nowhere near the value of the snk809..

I love the watch, but 37mm is just too small for my wrist. I really can't wear anything less than a 40mm+ watch without it looking like a toy or a woman's watch on my wrist. :)

Its deceitful video, once the watch is more over 200$ on the market, second at no time you talk about water resistance which is awful on this model
