Chris Brown Performance - The 2012 Billboard Music Awards

With a Grammy and a No. 1 album already under his belt, Brown will be performing less than two months before his fifth studio album, "Fortune," drops on July 3. His previous release, 2011's "F.A.M.E." debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with 872,000 copies sold according to Nielsen SoundScan. His latest single, "Turn Up the Music," debuted at No. 10 on the Hot 100 and he's currently at No. 2 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with his Rihanna collab, "Birthday Cake." The R&B star is also a finalist in four Billboard Music Awards categories, including Top Male Artist.

Additional acts will be announced in the coming days.

Adele, LMFAO, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne are the leading finalists. Adele takes the lead as a finalist in 18 award categories, while LMFAO is a finalist in 17 categories. Rihanna lands in 13 categories this year, after leading the pack with 18 category appearances in 2011. Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne each snagged a spot in 10 categories. Hosting this year's event will be "Modern Family" co-stars Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell.

I don’t understand people that always hate on his live performances... like he’s obviously lip syncing cuz have u seen his dancing?? And yes he’s not singing extremely well when he does sing live... cuz have u seen his dancing!!?! Dancing and singing is EXTREMELY hard to do. And a lot of people, understandably, compare him to MJ, and how MJ could sing well and dance at the same time but u have to really look at what they’re doing cuz they’re definitely not the same! I’m a HUGE fan of both of these guys so I’ve seen way more videos than I care to admit and I can say that the dancing they’re doing is two completely different things! Michaels dancing style is very different compared to Chris’s. Michaels style was very footwork oriented and fast intricate movements, while Chris’s is very big, high intensity, and long sequences. Michael never did any choreo that involved big jumps and high speed/high intensity movements like Chris and that has a lot to do with the fact that Chris has more modern hip hop in his style. High intensity dancing the way Chris does requires A LOT of breath, way more than what Michael usually did, and singing alone requires a lot of breath so obviously he’s going to be lip syncing. And also when Michael did sing live and start to do a little more high intensity for his kind of style, he didn’t sound perfect and then he also would lip sync A LOT, especially in his later years when his dance routines became bigger and more elaborate. It’s only human that both him and Chris can’t do both perfectly, and to Chris it seems like putting on a banger performance is going to be more dancing oriented so he’s not going to worry about his vocals. Comparing the two of them in this sense really doesn’t work because they’re very different and also mike did have his flaws too! It’s fine. But just like mike, if u were to have Chris just stand there with some minimal dance movements and sing a song, he would sound fine. His voice is still good it’s just the performances he gives is never vocally based.
