Special Economic Zones are among those of extremely controversial topics tbh. Success like ones in China is the leverage for ASEAN countries to follow. Still, I have read tons of failures from the SEZ projects.
I am now worried what would happen to the Thai and Viet people illegally trafficked to Sihanoukville. I have heard of tons of Vietnamese who had to suicide due to the overexploitation from those Chinese casinos. But if you think this is a false claim, I must say, google search is free tho. Besides, even the Chinese are beaten by the Chinese in these casinos.
I really dont hope Sihanoukville will become another failing project because it will be even worse for its local and neighboring countries.
