These are the kind of waffles we, Belgians, sell to tourists. There's a huge amount of upselling involved here. They make a lot of profit on the toppings.
It's not how most Belgians eat their waffles. For me the only real waffle is a Brussels style waffle, very light with a hint of beer (there's beer in the batter), and a bit of sugar on top.
Some Belgians will add cream as well, but no more than that. Chocolate and fruit is inauthentic and for tourists only. But I'm glad you enjoyed it.
