That iPhone in your pocket and Macintosh on your desk are the direct descendants of the NeXT computer. Specifically the NeXTstep operating system is the foundation of iOS on iPhone and MacOS on Mac. The Macintosh interface is for the most part written with the same NeXT software. The old 1984 Macintosh is long gone. The NeXT lives on.
