Realistic Caddis Grub!

This is a caddis soft hackle intended to imitate an October caddis. However, by changing the color and size, it can be adapted to represent any caddis larva or grub pattern. The soft hackle adds extra movement in the water, making it more enticing to fish. You can tie it with or without the soft hackle; either way, creating a body like this is an excellent way to mimic the larval stages of a caddis.

If you're fishing this fall, try placing this pattern behind your streamer and swinging it through the current during the October caddis hatch—you won't regret it! Unlike most caddis, some species, like the October caddis, swim to the shoreline rather than emerging from the water, making this a perfect presentation for a food source that fish go crazy for!
