The Kavli Institutes in Nanoscience

The Kavli Foundation supports four areas of science — astrophysics, nanoscience, neuroscience and theoretical physics. Together, these fields seek answers to some of humanity’s most fundamental scientific questions while creating basic knowledge for a better future. Nanoscience is science at the atomic scale (and even smaller), where researchers are uncovering the secrets of our micro-universe and, like nature itself, learning how to move atoms for creating new types of materials, smarter computers and, perhaps one day, even miniature machines and new kinds of life aimed at solving today’s insurmountable challenges.
