To be honest, I’ve never switched from AF-C after finding out. Except for night photography or when it’s too dark for the camera to maintain focus on the subject.

DMF focus is also helpful on stills. As you know, it will auto focus, but then let you micro adjust focus manually. Helpful in some instances. I sometimes use it with either moon shots or you want to shoot at hyperfocal length like in Milky Way w/ foreground shots.

My dude! When you are in tracking focusing mode, you can scroll left and right to access the different tracking focus modes like wide tracking, center tracking, zone tracking. You were on expandable flexible spot which allows you to move the focus zone throughout the image. When you are shooting fast moving stuff definitely try to shoot on wide or center depending upon what you're framing will be so you don't have to move that box around. But when you are on selectable spot you can move that little green box around anywhere and select your focus
